Our focus on supporting projects throughout Queensland can deliver significant outcomes to those in need. Here are some examples of the impact donations have made.

COLLIERS INTERNATIONAL

Proceeds of a Corporate Golf Day in 2007 made a difference by providing furnishings for a unique and purpose built facility for young people with specific high needs in the Brisbane area.

Painting and preparing an historic Surfing Museum at a Gold Coast Surf Club on a Corporate Connect® Volunteer day. 

Another successful effort managed by United Way Queensland

Shared proceeds of a Corporate Golf Day 2008 provided a youth counsellor for an additional 3 nights/week to support homeless young people in Brisbane CBD.

Shared Proceeds of a Corporate Golf Day 2008 will ensure homeless young families in the Bayside area of Brisbane are able to access affordable housing options and purchase much needed white goods.


FRUCOR BEVERAGES LIMITED

Corporate Donation made a difference by enabling the production of a junior fiction novel ‘Mega Man’ to assist primary aged school children better understand Cystic Fibrosis and the effects of CF on a child.


FUJITSU

Corporate Connect® Volunteer day provided a garden blitz and maintenance for a respite house for families with a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer undergoing hospitalisation.

‘In house’ volunteer project provided Christmas gifts for over 50 of Brisbane’s frail aged many of whom never receive Christmas gifts.

Provision of ‘Transition to Independent Living’ starter packs for more than 30 people moving from homelessness to independent living. Each pack consists of the basics of plates, cutlery and cooking utensils. This is certainly making a difference to peoples’ lives!

STOCKLAND BRISBANE

A dull and unused outdoor area became a neatly paved outdoor classroom for young people who have found the school system challenging. Through this scheme they can now complete their schooling in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Staff and Corporate donations through the United Way Workplace Giving Program will ensure an additional 300 meals can be provided for young homeless in Brisbane.

Staff and Corporate donations through the United Way Workplace Giving Program will enable an estimated 60 ‘Pyjama Angels’ to be trained. Pyjama Angels read to children in foster care to build their literacy skills and a love of reading. This will enable up to 200 of the 25,000 children currently in Foster care in Queensland to raise their literacy skills to that of their peers.

Staff and Corporate donations through the United Way Workplace Giving Program will assist in the provision of specialist equipment to families living with a child with congenital heart disease.


STOCKLAND SUNSHINE COAST

A Corporate donation of furniture ensured some ‘home comforts’ in one of several Sunshine Coast Crisis Houses for young people. Staff and Corporate donations through the United Way

Workplace Giving Program will enable additional Flexi School students to be part of a self development camp as they ‘transition’ to independence, and a new life.

Staff and Corporate donations through the United Way Workplace Giving Program will enable some young people to obtain a drivers licence under the new Queensland requirements.

The average cost of obtaining a licence (when supervised driving has to be paid for) is now $3,500.

Having a drivers licence will enable those young people to break the long-term cycle of unemployment by enabling them to get to work opportunities in their area – which requires private transport.


ZURICH

‘In house’ volunteer project ensured a warmer winter for over 160 homeless people. As a team building event staff made blankets and purchased beanies.

‘In house’ volunteer project enabled many Brisbane frail aged, families and children to have a brighter Christmas with hampers of practical food and goods, as well as two bicycles.

For many of the aged it was their first Christmas gift for many years.

Sixty aged people in care now have a bright and welcoming courtyard where they hold BBQ’s and ‘get togethers’ thanks to a Corporate Connect® Volunteer day. The smiles on their faces was a delight to see

UNITED WAY QUEENSLAND COMMUNITY CHEST

 

$1,016.00 to purchase specialist musical equipment for Music Therapy Program for children with language & related disorders.

$10,898 towards the production of a junior fiction novel ‘Mega Man’ to assist primary aged school children better understand the impact of Cystic Fibrosis for a young person.

$4,896 purchased items to support families needing transport to hospital & medical appointments – eg child car restraints for use by volunteer drivers.

$5,000 enabled siblings (of children with a range of disabilities) attend a camp designed to provide them with peer support.

$2,500 purchased items of specialised & adapted ‘play’ equipment to assist learning for children with disabilities.

$4,000 underwrote a ‘quality of life’ survey to boys suffering Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Results will provide information to improve services to families & the lives of boys affected by this disease.

$2,653 purchased specialist equipment for Aged Care Day Therapy Centre clients.
